Ammonia Stripping

Where ammonia is present in water to be treated, you can remove it using air stripping technology.
By a combination of pH adjustment and temperature, we calculate the tower size for any required efficiency. The most common application is for waste water at ambient temperature. By increasing the pH to 11, removals in the 80-90%  range can be provided.
With large systems, the discharge air will need treatment to collect the ammonia. We provide a closed loop system where the discharge air is treated with an acid wash to form a salt from the ammonia and the air is reused in the stripper.

Standard Profile
The standard counter flow air stripper is designed for flows from 0-910 m3/hr (0-4000 gpm). It can remove volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds including, but not limited to, chlorinated hydrocarbons, BETX, MTBE and others. It has the lowest initial cost and operating cost of any air stripping design.
Depending on the quantity of organics stripped from the water, an integral air treatment system can be provided using our technology with vapor phase carbon, thermal/catalytic oxidizers, or other equipment for removal of the VOCs from the air.

Ammonia Removal System - Air Strippers
By adjusting the pH of the inlet water, our aeration designs can be used for effective ammonia removal from groundwater, wastewater, and leachate.
The counter flow air removes the ammonia efficiently. Designs using capture systems can create concentrated ammonium sulfate salt solutions, or our thermal systems can be used to totally destroy the ammonia in the vapor phase.

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and other soluble gases can often be removed using air stripping technology.
We have previously built units for many unusual applications. Recently, several units have been installed on MTBE. Information on stripping MTBE or other VOC compounds is available.
Branch Environmental supplies custom built pollution control equipment for industry. Our air pollution control equipment can clean up acids, organics, aerosols and mist to meet any emission control standards. Our equipment is also used for water treatment, including removal of volatile organics, ammonia and other gases.
Branch Environmental supplies custom built scrubbers and systems for air pollution control. From small units to large custom designed systems, you receive competitive pricing with the highest reliability and assurance that the equipment will work right the first time.
Branch can provide standard design or custom built oxidation systems for thermal destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and other gases that can be eliminated by thermal destruction.
Branch provides custom built Air Stripper units for removal of voc, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and other volatile components from water. With our experience in complete systems, we can provide you with all of the related components and controls for a trouble free installation.
Branch designs and builds custom fabricated mass transfer equipment for gas absorption and removal.
Branch Environmental can provide several different technologies for removing oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from air or flue gas. The best treatment method for your application will depend on the conditions of operation.
When extremely small particles are present, the energy required for scrubbing will increase tremendously. If the particles are oil, acid mist, or a soluble salt, a Fiberbed may be the best answer
